Patricia Robertson, CDT (Certified Dog Trainer) has been active in the field of dog obedience for more than 17 years. She has trained dogs in obedience work, field work, dog sledding, rally obedience, and basic companion dog training.

Recognizing that each dog is an individual and promoting the use of balance in training, Pat uses a variety of techniques and skills that are tailored to suit each dog she encounters. She has worked with methods that employ lure-reward training, clicker training, traditional obedience commands, and remote collar training.

Pat has recently become an Obedience judge for the North American Mixed Breed Registry.  She also serves on the board of CAPPDT.

Her two Flatcoated Retrievers have their OTCH titles. Darkdance Tanner also has his JH, WC, CGN, and RN, and his brother OTCH Darkdance Rob Roy has his WC, JH, CGN, and RN (CARO and CKC). Both boys are now working on their Masters Level Obedience. Two of Pat's dogs have attained Top Dog status.  Pat is easily one of the  most qualified instructors in Peterborough County.

Kimberly Hoard-Miller started learning about training dogs in 2000 with her first dog Tally who now has her "Agility Dog of Canada" title.

Kimberly purchased Cedar, her first Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, in 2003 and has had many successes in agility, obedience, and rally. Cedar’s titles include Masters Agility Dog of Canada, Advanced Games Dog of Canada, Masters Steeplechase Dog of Canada, Masters Snooker dog of Canada, Masters Jumper Dog, Canine Good Neighbour, and Rally Novice. Kimberly and Cedar have qualified and competed in agility at the Nationals level for three consecutive years and have just earned their OTCH title in Obedience.

Kimberly feels it is important to further educate herself by attending seminars and workshops on dog related issues such as behavior, training and health. She has trained and learned from several excellent trainers including Sylvia Reeve, Ricki Abrams, Susan Miller, and Lane White.

The training style she chooses to use is positive reinforcement and clicker training. She believes in trying the “least intrusive” method first. Kimberly teaches the basic Fundamentals class and the Intermediate Dog Manners class. Kimberly believes that with some time spent training your dog you can have a well behaved and respected member of society that is welcome almost everywhere you go.

Kimberly has a new challenge with her new Duck Toller puppy Hazyl. Kimberly says that she is definitely a “Wild Child”  that will force her to become an even better trainer.

For Candace Jermyn, the love of dogs must have been programmed since birth.   At a year of age Candace spent a week in the hospital and when her parents came to take her home,  she  was only interested in seeing the family’s cocker spaniel.

At the age of 14  Candace trained her first novice level dog (a Springer/collie cross) and got the bug for dog training.  Soon she was assisting and later teaching.

Wanting to enter obedience trials, Candace bought her first purebred Shetland Sheepdog in 1975 and has been trialing, showing and breeding under the kennel name LOCHISLE  ever since.

A balanced trainer and instructor, Candace  has been involved in obedience training for 37 years  and has been judging sanction matches and correction matches for over 25 years.

Candace and Sonny recently earned their CDX title.

Linda Rhéaume-Waldock is a Registered Veterinary Technician.

Linda has a French Spaniel, Azure, who was first in Canada in conformation in 2001 and an Aussie, Louna, who now achieved the title of "Companion Dog" (CD), one leg for her Excellent in Rally-O and her CGN. Linda also competed in Agility with a previous dog, Pafouinne, who was in Advance for Standard, Snooker and Master in Jumpers.  She was also teaching an introduction to Agility classes back then.

Linda enjoys participating in seminars about dog behaviour and health. Linda is the person you will talk to when you call PADOC.
Kristina Curren is a newcomer to the world of dog training and dog sports. She bought Bella, her first Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, in late 2008 and enrolled her in PADOC’s Novice Obedience course because she wanted Bella to be a well-behaved dog that she could take anywhere. Bella did well enough that PADOC members encouraged Kristina to continue training her and to enter her into rally obedience matches and trials. Kristina got hooked!

In their first nine months together, Kristina and Bella obtained their Companion Dog (CD), Rally Excellent (RE), CARO Rally Advanced Magna–Cum Laude (RA-MCL), and Canine Good Neighbour titles. Bella recently finished her show championship and Kristina hopes to earn Bella's CDX and working certificate (WC) this year.

Kristina’s second Toller, Nick, came into her life in August 2009. He is currently being trained in basic obedience, retrieving for field tests, and conformation.

Kristina enjoys learning about different methods of dog training, from pure-positive to correction-based techniques. Every dog (and every trainer!) is different, so the trick is to find the best method for each of them.

Kristina has attended a one-day immunology seminar with Dr. Jean Dodds and a two-day obedience workshop with Connie Cleveland
June Murdock is a lifetime member of PADOC. June started obedience classes with PADOC  in 1980 with her Irish Water Spaniel 'Casey'.  Bitten by the 'Bug' she became a member of the club.  After attending seminars & assisting at classes she became an instructor with the club .

June trained Casey and her American Water Spaniels Peggy & Gus to competition levels. She is now working with her Portuguese Water Dog 'Sula' in Obedience, Rally-O and Agility. Sula recently earned her Jr.Water Dog title.
Barb Hayes & her husband Brian have been dog lovers and owners for many years.  They now have a mixed breed black "Golden Doodle" by the name of Brody & live in Douro-Dummer near Lakefield.

Barb joined PADOC and went to classes with Pat Robertson and she fully advises dog owners to go to some sort of obedience class to help them with their pet & to better learn how the dogs think & act.  Brody has only attained his Level One in Novice Obedience so far but as soon as possible, Barb & Brody are going to pursue the upper levels of Novice, Open, and Utility.

Barb is a member of NAMBR and CARO and is planning on entering Brody in these trials for mixed breed dogs at some point in the future.  These are great forums for mixed breed dogs & are a lot of fun for everyone.  Obedience classes are an excellent way to teach your dog to be a true & respectful companion & also they are a great way to network with other dog owners & their accomplishments & to let the dogs socialize with other dogs.  PADOC is a great forum for teaching your dog.
Barbara (Allen) de Catanzaro moved to Peterborough from Ottawa, two years ago.  Barbara has had the determination to prevail and make herself a member of PADOC for the sole purposes of making her dog a “Therapy Dog”.

Not having a lot of choice of dogs with which her allergic-husband could live with, Barbara chose the Hungarian Puli in honour of her Hungarian-girlfriend.

Although the breed is known to be “sensibly suspicious”, Barbara has made notable progress in training the Puli to be as competitive in obedience as other PADOC members' dogs. She is often seen around town and at The Market with their orange & gray 'bus buggy' and can be counted-on to offer cheer-leading and salesmanship qualities to the Club.
Donna Barrett (Competed in the HIT of HITS in Ottawa!) originally joined PADOC in 1987 with her first Golden Retriever "Nugget".  After Nugget, Donna worked with several Goldens.  She was active in PADOC in various positions such as Secretary, teaching classes, and participating in many functions both competitive and recreational.  While continuing to work with her dogs for Obedience, Conformation, Field and Agility, Donna took time off from the Club to have more time for her children's activities, work commitments and health issues. Over the years, with her daughter always at her side helping, they continued to work with her dogs to a level of CDX, WCI, two Agility titles, Rally Obedience, and CGN.

Donna rejoined PADOC last year.  Currently, Donna is teaching classes and recently was awarded two high in trial awards when completing her CD on Jude. She is also preparing Josh for the Obedience ring as well.
Marj Schryer and Zoe joined PADOC about six years ago.  Marj is our Rally-Obedience expert and has been trial secretary for our CARO trials.  She has also been training Zoe who has achieved her CD and is fast moving up the ladder in Rally-O.  Marj has also been active within the club in many ways over the years.
Susanne Rokos joined PADOC 7 years ago with Her Belgian Tervuren "Annie".  "Annie" was born deaf and was trained by hand signals. She earned Novice and Excellent Title in Rally-Obedience. She also had a Canine Good Neighbour Certificate and served as a Therapy Dog. We lost "Annie" last spring to cancer.

"Cody", also a Belgian Tervuren, joined our family 3 years ago, he came to us from a shelter in Toronto. He earned his CD in one weekend, he was High in Class in the first and second trial and second in the third. He earned his CGN Certificate and most recently a Certificate of Herding Instinct.
